MORE THAN JUST A CHECK-UP OF YOUR EYES

Your eyes are our priority and are considered one of the most complicated yet crucial organs of the human body. This organ is directly affected by many factors, among other; age-related changes, appropriate nutrition, external agents, genetic or systemic diseases.
Even if you do not suffer from any vision-related problems, it is advisable to have your eyes thoroughly checked regularly once a year, in order to enjoy the visual beauty around you for many more years. In the course of the eye check, a health map is established, which allows the early detection of diseases such as diabetes, brain tumors, AIDS, Alzheimer's, hypertension, blood and heart diseases, metabolic diseases, and Parkinson's.

ALL EYE CHECK-UPS IN WESTEYE FOLLOW 7 STEPS

  1. Sharpness of vision test: this test measures your ability to see small details close-up, as well as at a distance. The test uses letters or numbers of decreasing size.

  2. Requirement of glasses test: Westeye surgeons use the most advanced devices to measure the eyes' refractivity in order to determine whether they are myopic, hypermetropic, or astigmatic.

  3. Eyelid examination: this examination includes eyelids, eyelash base, tear glands, tear ducts, and the area around the eyes.

  4. Examination of the eye muscles: internal eye muscles control pupil movement. External eye muscles ensure that the eyes are parallel adjusted. Free movement and parallel adjustment of the eyes are examined in order to determine cases of double vision and strabismus.

  5. Measurement of the eye pressure: our highly developed equipment allows the automatic measurement of the eye pressure using only air contact with the eye. If the result is doubtful, your surgeon may use a manual procedure to ensure the result is correct. These measurements are important in the early diagnosis of glaucoma.

  6. Biomicroscopic examination: a specially developed device with a slit lamp allows the detailed examination of the eyelid, conjunctiva, cornea, iris, and lens.

  7. Retina examination with drug-induced pupil expansion: this examination uses a drug-induced pupil expansion (i.e. eye drop examination) in order to detect defects such as yellow spots, retinal detachment, and glaucoma, as well as damages to the vascular system caused by hypertension, diabetes, and other diseases. This method can also be extremely useful in the diagnosis of brain tumors and other grave illnesses. The eye drop examination provides a look into the depths of the eye and has crucial importance for an early diagnosis of irregularities and the determination of the right treatment.
