Frequently asked questions - General

What services does WestEye Hospital offer?
We provide comprehensive eye care including routine check-ups, cataract and refractive surgery, glaucoma treatment, retina and vitreoretinal surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, corneal transplants, emergency eye care, and low vision services.

Will my eyes be numbed or dilated during the exam?
Many procedures require pupil dilation and/or numbing drops. We always explain the process in advance. Dilation may blur your vision for a few hours, so you might consider bringing sunglasses and having someone drive you home.

Is there a recovery period after surgery?
Yes, most patients need 1–2 days of rest for minor procedures, while more involved surgeries like cataracts or retina operations may require 1–2 weeks of limited activity. Detailed recovery guidelines will be provided post-op.

When can I return to work or normal activities?
For routine eye exams, you can resume activities immediately. After surgery, light work may be possible within a few days. We'll give you a personalized plan depending on your procedure.

Are children's eye services available?
