CATARACT
A cataract is formed when the natural lens of the eyes loses its transparency. This phenomenon is often seen in elderly people, but it can affect people of all ages, even newborns. Cataracts cannot be treated with medication or glasses.; the only treatment is surgery. The more the cataract phase is advanced, the less the patient can see. During cataract surgery, the turbid lens is removed and replaced with a new lens. The success of the intervention and the patient's visual quality depending on the surgeon’s experience, the technology used, and the quality of the intraocular lens. A patient should be most concerned about the quality of the intraocular lens to be inserted into their eyes.
TRIFOCAL LENSES
The lenses allowing you to see in long-distance are called monofocal; the lenses allowing you to see both in long-distance and near distance are the multifocal lenses; and the lenses enabling you to see just as well in long, middle, and close distance are called trifocal lenses. Trifocal lenses, the newest version of multifocal lenses, provide clear vision in the distance and eliminate the need for glasses in close range (20-80 cm). They are therefore very convenient, especially for people who experience continuous computer use. The most appropriate lenses for you are determined along with the eye health status, during a detailed examination.
WHO NEEDS TRIFOCAL LENSES?
It is a solution that can be applied to patients with various conditions; cataracts, problems of far and near vision, or high eye-correction digits, which are not suitable for laser treatment. It can also be applied for patients with myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, who are looking for an alternative to glasses or contact lenses.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS OF TRIFOCAL LENSES?
The trifocal lens can be used for all patients who have visual problems when the doctor deems it appropriate. It is an important operation that requires expertise, so it is very important to complete this process under the control of a specialist, qualified surgeon. In this operation, the intraocular should be very well centered and there should be no slippage after the operation. No side effects are observed after a correct orientation and successful operation.
HOW LONG DOES THE OPERATION TAKE?
The operation is completed in an average of 10 to 15 minutes. The patient does not feel pain during the operation and can continue his/her social life the next day, but it is recommended not to do any physical activities for 15-20 days.
