RELEX SMILE LASER

A NEW-GENERATION TECHNOLOGY FOR PATIENTS WITH A THIN CORNEA AND A HIGH DIOPTRE MYOPIA

The SMILE laser technology is a surgical method that does not require large cuts in a patient's cornea. With the help of technology, which ensures superior corneal biomechanics, patients feel more comfortable after their surgery.

HOW SMILE LASER CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE?

- You can see the time on your watch and your face in the mirror.
- You can naturally see without glasses or the aid of a magnifying glass.
- Your eyes are more at ease during sports and help more successful in it.
- You are less affected by the weather, wind, and rain
- You are no longer limited in your daily activities due to blurry vision; your quality of eyesight is improved.

ADVANTAGES FOR people in sports and athletes

The SMILE method preserves the mechanical strength of a patient's cornea better than other methods, which has an important advantage. This method has big advantages particularly for persons who are more likely subject to mechanical traumas such as sportspersons (in all sports with physical impact, diving, weightlifting, where static power is exerted, sports executed in the open in windy or cold conditions, etc.), firemen, policemen, and soldiers. The most important aspect of the SMILE method for sportspersons is a very short healing period.

FEMTO-LASIK EXCIMER LASER

Femto-LASIK Laser is used in refractive surgeries for the removal of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

Corneal Flap Formation

With Femto-LASIK, one of the most important steps in the elimination of eye defects in the creation of a lid (corneal flap) in the transparent part of the eye or the evolve of the outer part by Femtosecond Laser. FEMTO LASIK is a completely computer-controlled technique without a knife.

Custom Excimer Laser

Femto-LASIK is the 5th generation in refractive surgeries because of its innovative features. This method is also known by NASA and the United States Army as an appropriate treatment method for astronauts and fighter pilots, and visual acuity is maximized. It provides effective results up to -10 in myopia, +5 in hyperopia, and -6 in astigmatism. Femto-LASIK treatment allows the detection and follow-up of the smallest rotational movements of the eye, and the treatment is completed in an error-free and planned manner.

Main Difference between Femto-LASIK and LASIK Methods

In the LASIK method, the surgery is formed by an automatic knife called a microkeratome. In the LASIK method, the anatomy of the eye is effective when creating the flap. The Femto-LASIK method, which is performed with IntraLaser iFSfemtosecond laser, allows approaching the tissue with maximum level and micron-level security. In this way, the treatment is completely in accordance with the eye structure of the person, and the patient's comfort of vision increases. The LASIK method creates the flap in 30 seconds. In Femto-LASIK, this time goes down to 10 seconds.

WHAT IS PRESBYOND?

Presbyond laser blended vision is a treatment for people who have an age-related need for reading glasses, known as presbyopia. As we get older the natural lens inside our eye loses its flexibility and resulting in loss of the ability for near focusing. These effects are usually seen after the age of 40. Presbyond uses an excimer laser to sculpt the cornea and focuses the dominant eye for distance and the non-dominant eye for near vision. It is different from traditional monovision or micro-monovision, as the sophisticated wavefront laser profile expands the depth of focus for each eye. This improves your vision whether you are reading a book or driving a car, reducing or eliminating the need for glasses. Presbyond laser treatment is suitable for a large proportion of people suffering from presbyopia. Although used primarily to compensate for reading glasses. it can be combined with the correction of presbyopia, (myopia), long-sightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. All patients above the age of 40 could consider combining their Laser Vision Correction with Presbyond laser blended vision.

THE BENEFITS OF PRESBYOND

  • Works like LASIK: Since PRESBYOND is an advanced form of LASIK, patients get benefits from this well-established procedure with proven long-term results.

  •  Customized Treatment: Your PRESBYOND treatment is based on an individualized profile that is tailor-made for you.

  •  Minimally invasive: Much like LASIK, Presbyond is done on the cornea, but with a smaller incision, making it far less invasive than other types of refractive surgery.

  • Quick Recovery: Patients often experience clear vision within 48 hours of their procedure. In fact, it’s not uncommon for patients to start reading without glasses the same day.

THE PROCEDURE

The procedure is almost identical to LASIK; it is painless, although a feeling of pressure on the eyes may be noticed at times. It typically takes 5-10 minutes for each eye and around 30 minutes for the whole procedure. Anesthetic eye drops are used before the procedure to numb the eyes. After laying down, you will have a ‘lid speculum’ fitted to keep your eye open and to stop your eyes from blinking. A vacuum ring is placed on your eye whilst the femtosecond laser is creating the flap. You will notice during this time your vision is dim and darker. The surgeon will then lift the flap and the exposed cornea will be treated (lasered) with the excimer laser. The flap is then repositioned and the same procedure is repeated on your other eye.
